Disordered eating is a term used for unhealthy eating behaviors and worries about body image. Some of the most common types of disordered eating are dieting and restrictive eating.
Extreme cases of disordered eating are defined as Eating Disorders. Eating Disorders are serious medical illnesses marked by severe disturbances to a person’s eating behaviors and can affect people of all ages, racial/ethnic backgrounds, body weights, and genders.
How I Help:
I provide in-depth nutritional counseling, in-office food exposures and restaurant outings in a manner that traditional day programs are unable to provide
Restore physical and nutritional health by stabilizing and/or restoring one’s biologically appropriate weight, normalizing food habits, creating food variety, changing attitudes and beliefs, and correcting misguided notions about eating, food, body shape and size
If appropriate, collaboration with a client’s family on meal planning and establishing a supportive environment to promote weight restoration (if needed) and to help decrease eating disorder behaviors within the family dynamics
