Disordered eating is a term used for unhealthy eating behaviors and worries about body image. Some of the most common types of disordered eating are dieting and restrictive eating.

Extreme cases of disordered eating are defined as Eating Disorders. Eating Disorders are serious medical illnesses marked by severe disturbances to a person’s eating behaviors and can affect people of all ages, racial/ethnic backgrounds, body weights, and genders.

Medical Nutrition Therapies for Mental Health & Substance Use Disorders

Nutritional therapy in treating individuals with substance use and mental health disorders is an adjunct to formal therapy that attempts to restore an individual’s physical health, reverse damage to the system produced by malnutrition, and help the individual to feel healthy and energetic in order to face the challenges of recovery.
